Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 stick unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice freshly squeezed

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add the cold cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, heavy cream, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Shape and Bake
  1. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
  2. Roll out the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out cookies using a cookie cutter.
  3. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Make the Glaze
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm scone cookies once they have cooled slightly.
