High Protein Cottage Cheese Pasta Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method
 

  1. Heat a medium-sized pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the olive oil to the pan and let it warm for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the tomato sauce to the pan, stirring gently to combine with the olive oil.
  4. Pour in the water and stir to thin out the tomato sauce slightly.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes while occasionally stirring.
  6. Place cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and Parmesan cheese into a blender or food processor.
  7. Add garlic powder, dried basil, dried oregano, ground black pepper, and salt into your blender with the cheeses.
  8. Blend everything together until smooth and creamy.
  9. Once your tomato sauce has simmered, slowly pour in the creamy cottage cheese mixture into the pan.
  10. Let this divine mixture cook for an additional 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  11. Finally, add lemon juice to brighten up all those rich flavors.
  12. Taste your sauce! Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  13. Allow everything to simmer another 2–3 minutes just until heated through before removing from heat.
