Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
Frosting
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  2. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Make the Filling
  1. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
Roll and Cut
  1. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
  3. Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal pieces.
Bake the Rolls
  1. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and cover with a towel. Let rise for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Bake the rolls for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Prepare the Frosting
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Serve
  1. Spread the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.
