Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, beaten egg, remaining sugar, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Make the Filling
- In a bowl, mix chopped cherries, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
Assemble the Rolls
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spread the cherry filling evenly over the dough, then roll it tightly from one end to the other.
- Cut the rolled dough into 8 equal pieces and place them on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Rolls
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before glazing.
Prepare the Glaze
- In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
