Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 packet active dry yeast about 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 1/2 cup milk warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling
  • 1 cup cherries pitted and chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk adjust for consistency
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, beaten egg, remaining sugar, flour, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Make the Filling
  1. In a bowl, mix chopped cherries, brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
Assemble the Rolls
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  2. Spread the cherry filling evenly over the dough, then roll it tightly from one end to the other.
  3. Cut the rolled dough into 8 equal pieces and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  4. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Rolls
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before glazing.
Prepare the Glaze
  1. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
