Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg beaten
Add-ins
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped

Method
 

Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
Combine Wet Ingredients
  1. In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk and beaten egg until combined.
Combine Mixtures
  1. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Add Cheese and Herbs
  1. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, chives, and parsley until evenly distributed.
Shape the Dough
  1. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
Bake the Bread
  1. Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet and cut a shallow cross on top. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool and Serve
  1. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
