Ingredients
  

Waffle Donut Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
Apple Fritter Filling
  • 2 medium apples peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup raisins optional
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Prepare the Apple Filling
  1. In a bowl, combine the diced apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, lemon juice, and raisins. Mix well and set aside.
Make the Waffle Donut Batter
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, combine the beaten egg, milk, and melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Preheat the Waffle Iron
  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Cook the Waffle Donuts
  1. Spray the waffle iron with non-stick spray.
  2. Pour a small amount of batter onto the waffle iron, then add a spoonful of the apple filling on top, followed by more batter to cover.
  3. Close the waffle iron and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Repeat with the remaining batter and filling.
Prepare the Glaze
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Serve
  1. Drizzle the glaze over the warm waffle donuts and serve immediately.
