  • 12 oz canned chickpeas (drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (or other neutral oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas, then mash in a bowl until coarse.
  2. Combine mashed chickpeas with ground cumin, black pepper, sea salt, minced green onions, minced garlic, flour (or chickpea flour), and one egg. Mix until well combined.
  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape the mixture into small patties and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. For the yogurt sauce, mix Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced dill, garlic, and sea salt in a bowl. Chill until serving.
  6. Serve warm patties with yogurt sauce.
