  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion (finely grated)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and milk; let soak for 5 minutes. Add ground beef, onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape mixture into small balls (about an inch in diameter). Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook meatballs in batches until browned on all sides.
  3. Remove meatballs and set aside. In the same skillet, whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add beef broth while whisking continuously. Stir in heavy cream and soy sauce; simmer until thickened.
  4. Return meatballs to the gravy and simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
