  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • optional: 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ginger or cardamom

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in pumpkin purée, buttermilk, and vanilla until just combined.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface; fold gently until it holds together. Pat into an 8-inch circle and cut into wedges.
  6. Freeze wedges for about 15 minutes on a parchment-lined sheet while the oven heats.
