  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla; whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until combined; transfer the batter to an 8-inch casserole dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour hot water over the entire dish without stirring.
