  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp strawberry extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream softened butter and sugar in another bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add milk followed by the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter into three bowls: leave one plain, mix cocoa powder into the second for chocolate, and add strawberry extract to the third.
  6. Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting between layers.
