Ingredients

  • 2 lbs apples (Gala, Fuji, or similar)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 inches ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Wash, quarter, and core the apples (no need to peel).
  2. Combine apples, sliced ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water in an Instant Pot or stock pot.
  3. For Instant Pot: Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes; for stovetop: bring to boil then simmer until apples are soft.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar.
  5. Let cool completely before storing in airtight containers.
