  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook the ground beef with garlic and onion for about 10 minutes until browned. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Stir in chopped tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer gently for at least an hour while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add rinsed pinto beans and salt; cook for another 15 minutes. Serve hot in bowls.
