Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp white granulated sugar
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 6 tbsp brown butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar; sprinkle active dry yeast on top and let it foam for 10–15 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour and salt together. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil; stir until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 12 hours for the first rise.
  4. Grease a baking pan and pour melted butter in the center. Deflate your dough gently and place it in the pan, allowing it to rise for another 1½ to 2 hours.
  5. Make brown butter, then mix with brown sugar and cinnamon for the topping.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Dimple the risen dough, drizzle with cinnamon-butter mixture, and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  7. Allow cooling before drizzling vanilla icing made from powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
