Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak or skirt steak
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. Place the steak in a zip-lock bag with the marinade and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight for deeper flavor.
  2. Preheat Grill: Heat your grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Grill the Steak: Remove steak from marinade (discard marinade) and grill for about 3-5 minutes on each side until cooked to medium-rare.
  4. Let It Rest: Transfer steak to a cutting board and rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Slice: Cut the steak against the grain into thin strips.
  6. Assemble Tacos: Warm tortillas on the grill or stovetop, fill with carne asada slices, top with cilantro, and add any additional toppings you desire.
