  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cups (175 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (80 g) Heath toffee bits with chocolate
  • Flaked sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter by melting it in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty. Mix in the espresso powder and refrigerate until firm (1-2 hours).
  2. Beat browned butter with both sugars until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes).
  3. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Add baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour; mix gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in toffee bits carefully.
  6. Chill dough balls on a plate for at least 2 hours before baking.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place chilled dough balls on it, sprinkle with sea salt, and bake for 11-13 minutes.
