  • 3 T unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 T unsalted butter for topping
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar for topping
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the apple cider and set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and apple pie spice.
  4. In another bowl, combine sugar and egg into the cider-butter mixture, whisking until fully incorporated.
  5. Gently mix wet and dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Prepare a donut pan by spraying it with cooking spray. Fill each cavity evenly with batter using a piping bag or spoon.
  7. Bake for about 7 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before dipping in melted butter and rolling in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
